Chief's UpdateCountless factors contribute to Berlin Township’s attractiveness and community strengths. Berlin Township Fire Department personnel contribute to that success through dedication and service. Pending: 2003 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant ApplicationOn November 15, 2003 we turned in our 2003 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program application. This grant funding request was geared towards utilizing our website as an innovative tool to enhance communication and awareness with focus on children under the age of 14 years old and seniors. The objective of our Fire Prevention Awareness Program is based on enhancing our Public Safety Program through four key areas as follows: (a) Educate, (b) Instruct, (c) Inform, and (d) Distribute. Our goal is to “change the behavior of individuals through various educational programs in order to prevent injury, death, or loss to fire or other type of accidents”. Pending: 2004 Assistance to Firefighter Grant ApplicationPending: 2004 Assistance to Firefighter Grant Application As Phase 3 of our Health and Safety Initiative our grant committee researched, investigated, developed, and submitted a grant proposal on April 1, 2004 for an apparatus engine exhaust extraction system for our station. Firefighter 1 Class at Berlin Twp Fire Station/Senior CenterThe Fire Fighter 1 Class, which started in March 2004 at our station through St. Clair Community College Fire Training Center is on schedule to be completed May, 2004. We wish each of the student’s success in both the Written Exam and the Practical Exam in the coming weeks.
